MINDFUL DESIGN: What Interior Design means to me

For those who don’t know me (and trust me, I won’t take it personally), I’d love to share a bit about my take on interior design and what it truly means to me.
Let’s start with the basics: I’m a practical designer and a natural problem solver. When I think of interior design, I see it as more than just picking out colors and fluffing up cushions—though, let’s be honest, that can be fun too! A client comes to me with their design dilemmas and aspirations, and my job is to craft solutions and aesthetics that make their lives easier and more enjoyable. I genuinely believe that our surroundings play a significant role in our happiness and well-being. When our spaces work for us, supporting our daily lives, we unlock the secret to true contentment. If a room feels off—even if we can’t pinpoint why—it can leave us feeling uneasy. That’s where thoughtful, mindful interior design shines, transforming discomfort into harmony.

As I mentioned earlier, every project I tackle begins with the people who inhabit the space and the building itself. It’s all about how these elements serve and support us daily. It’s a two-way street: when we nurture and respect our environments, they, in turn, provide us with safety and joy. After all, rooms without people are just lonely, empty shells!
For me, interior design is an essential tool for any home or workplace. It should be a part of everyone’s life at some point! I understand that hiring a designer isn’t always feasible, which is one of the reasons I wanted to write these articles. My hope is that through these pages, you’ll find the tools and inspiration to embark on your own interior design adventures while embracing a mindful approach. Let’s create spaces that truly resonate with who we are!
